Questions Parents Ask

Straight answers about starting ABA therapy with Hope Center for Behavior Change.

Getting started

Is there a waitlist?+

No. There is no waitlist.

How long will it take to get services?+

From your first call it can take as little as three weeks to start. Once your insurance approves the treatment plan, services usually begin within 3–5 business days. Slow paperwork or insurance replies can stretch this to a few months. See every step.

Do you provide services in my area?+

We have locations in West Palm Beach, Temple Terrace (Tampa), Port Charlotte, Jacksonville and Sebring, and serve families in Broward and St. Lucie counties, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Lakeland, Winter Haven, Plant City and Apollo Beach. Call us if your area is not listed. See where we provide ABA.

Does my child need a diagnosis?+

Insurance-funded ABA usually needs a diagnosis of autism (ASD) or Down syndrome. If your child does not have one, we offer diagnostic evaluations. Self-pay is available for every service, with or without a diagnosis.

Who answers when I call?+

Our operations manager or support staff. Call 561-337-8865 or email office@hopecenteraba.com.

Insurance and cost

What insurance do you take?+

Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna (Evernorth), UMR, Personify Health and TRICARE East (Humana Military). Optum is coming soon. We do not currently accept Medicaid. See insurance.

What will we pay?+

It depends on your plan’s deductible and copays. We check your benefits for free first, and our sliding scale helps with deductibles and copays, so many families pay little or nothing out of pocket. Self-pay is available for every service.

Do you accept TRICARE?+

Yes, TRICARE East through Humana Military. We help military families with referrals and authorizations. See TRICARE for ABA therapy.

Therapy

Where does therapy happen?+

At home, at school, at daycare, in the community and at our locations, wherever your insurance allows.

Who will work with my child?+

A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) delivers sessions. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) writes and reviews the plan and supervises the RBT weekly. Our clinical director, Aisha Albright-Jourdan, MSW, LCSW, BCBA, reviews every plan before it goes to insurance.

How do I reach my child’s team?+

Call or text your child’s RBT or BCBA, or call our front desk at 561-337-8865.

How are parents involved?+

Parents are trained weekly, and goals and the treatment plan are discussed in those sessions. Where allowed, our team also joins IEP meetings, doctor and dental visits and haircuts. See parent training.

Which languages do you provide care in?+

English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Bengali and Russian. See ABA in your family’s language.

What if my child gets upset or does not want to continue?+

We are assent-based and trauma-informed. We use calming techniques, lower demands and make tasks fun, not forceful. We do not use restraint. Read our approach.

Do you offer other services?+

Yes. We offer mental health therapy and diagnostic evaluations, and in-house speech therapy is planned for January 2027. We do not offer occupational therapy.

Concerns and privacy

How do I raise a concern?+

Start with your child’s BCBA. If it is not resolved, ask for the assistant clinical director, then the executive director. Call 561-337-8865.

How is my family’s information protected?+

You receive our privacy statement in the intake package when services begin. For questions about your records, call or email office@hopecenteraba.com.

What should we do in an emergency?+

Call 911. Then tell your child’s behavior analyst, who will return your call within 24 hours.
