The short answer
In-home ABA therapy is applied behavior analysis delivered in your family's own home. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst designs the program and a Registered Behavior Technician carries it out during everyday routines, such as toilet training, getting dressed, mealtimes and playing with siblings. Parents can watch, learn and practice the same strategies between sessions.

What is in-home ABA therapy?
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a behavioral approach. It looks at what happens before and after a behavior, then uses that understanding to build new skills. The CDC notes that ABA can be given in education, health, community or home settings, or a mix of them.
With in-home ABA, sessions take place where your child already spends most of the day. Our therapists see firsthand how your child behaves at home and which areas need support.
What skills can in-home ABA work on?
Every program is individualized, so goals depend on your child's needs. At home, therapy often focuses on:
- Toilet trainingSmall, steady steps toward using the bathroom.
- Getting dressedPracticing each part of dressing during the real morning routine.
- Family mealtimesSitting, eating and taking part in a meal with the family.
- Sharing with siblingsTaking turns and sharing toys during play.
- Coping skillsCalmer ways to handle changes and frustration.
- Household issuesProblems that come up at home, worked on as they happen.

How do parents take part?
During sessions, parents and caregivers can observe and learn. Seeing the strategies used with your own child helps you understand how to support their skill development.
Parent training happens every week. In those sessions your BCBA goes over goals and the plan with you and helps you put the strategies into practice in your own routines. The goal is to support both the child and the family. Read more about our parent and caregiver training.

How does in-home ABA fit with school and community settings?
Home is one of several places we work. We also offer therapy at school, at daycare, in the community and at our locations in West Palm Beach, Temple Terrace (Tampa), Port Charlotte, Jacksonville and Sebring, so skills learned at home can be practiced in other places too. See school-based ABA therapy for how that works.
Where allowed, our staff can also join your child at IEP meetings, doctor and dental appointments and haircuts, so the skills practiced at home carry into these visits.
Our team provides care in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Bengali and Russian, so sessions can use the language your child hears every day.

Questions families ask
Can I watch my child's in-home ABA sessions?+
Yes. Parents and caregivers can observe and learn during sessions. Watching lets you ask questions and see the strategies your child's therapist uses, so you can use them in your own routines. Your BCBA can talk with you about how your family can take part in a way that fits your day.
Does my child need a diagnosis before in-home ABA?+
A diagnosis comes from a qualified provider, such as a developmental pediatrician, child psychologist, psychiatrist or pediatric neurologist. BCBAs do not diagnose autism, ADHD or ODD. Insurance-funded ABA usually requires a diagnosis such as autism (ASD) or Down syndrome. Self-pay is available for all services, so a diagnosis is not required to self-pay. Call us and we can explain what your plan asks for.
Is in-home ABA covered by insurance?+
We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna (Evernorth), UMR, Personify Health and TRICARE East (Humana Military), and Optum is coming soon. We do not currently accept Medicaid. Coverage and costs depend on your plan, and we check your benefits before services start. Self-pay is available for all services, with a sliding scale to help with deductibles and copays. See our insurance page for more detail, or call 561-337-8865.
Can in-home ABA be done in our home language?+
Our team provides care in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Bengali and Russian. Call us to be matched with a team member who speaks your family's language. You can also read about bilingual ABA therapy.
