ABA Therapy for Military Families

Military family–focused • TRICARE accepted • Help with every step

Finding steady, effective support for your child is especially hard when military life brings frequent moves, schedule changes and long separations. Hope Center for Behavior Change provides ABA therapy for military families and works with TRICARE East (Humana Military) and private plans such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna (Evernorth), UMR and Personify Health, so your family can focus on progress rather than paperwork.

The short answer

Hope Center for Behavior Change provides ABA therapy for children of active-duty, Guard, Reserve and retired military families and accepts TRICARE East (Humana Military), which covers ABA through the Autism Care Demonstration. We help with eligibility checks and authorizations, involve parents in every plan, and plan ahead for PCS moves and deployments.

Why is ABA harder to keep going for military families?

Military life interrupts autism care in ways other families rarely face:

  • Long waitlists after a relocation
  • Therapy plans interrupted by PCS moves
  • Few autism providers near the base
  • Insurance or authorization delays
  • Stress around deployments

We understand military life. We have no waitlist, and our programs are built to stay steady and responsive through it.

How we help you start sooner

We prioritize the paperwork that slows military families down:

  • Fast eligibility and benefits verification
  • Help with TRICARE referral and authorization steps
  • Prompt scheduling of the BCBA assessment
  • Continuity planning for relocations

There is no waitlist. From your first call it can take as little as three weeks to start: intake paperwork, a benefits check, a 2–4 hour assessment at our center or at home (in one or two sessions), and up to two weeks to finalize the treatment plan and send it to your insurance. Once the plan is approved, services usually begin within 3–5 business days. Slow paperwork or insurance replies can stretch this to a few months. You can meet your child’s team before services start. We have locations for center and home services in West Palm Beach, Temple Terrace (Tampa), Port Charlotte, Jacksonville and Sebring, and we also serve Broward County and Fort Lauderdale, St. Lucie County, Orlando, Lakeland, Winter Haven, Plant City and Apollo Beach; see where we provide ABA.

Family-centered ABA designed for military life

Military children often face changes in home, school, caregivers and routine. We focus on:

  • Daily life skills and independence
  • Communication and social development
  • Emotional regulation during transitions
  • School readiness and adjustment
  • Behavior support at home, at school, at daycare, in the community and at our locations in West Palm Beach, Temple Terrace (Tampa), Port Charlotte, Jacksonville and Sebring

Parents and caregivers are active partners, with parent training every week, so strategies keep working across moves and deployments. RBTs deliver sessions, BCBAs write and review the plan and supervise RBTs weekly, and our clinical director reviews every plan before it goes to insurance.

What happens to therapy during a PCS move?

Losing progress after a move is one of the biggest worries for military parents. We plan for it:

  • Portable plansTreatment plans and progress data ready to share with the next provider.
  • CoordinationWith your permission, we talk to the next team.
  • Parent coachingExtra support through the transition.
  • Paperwork helpWhat the new region’s contractor will need.
  • Fast restartIf you move into our area, we help you get started quickly.

TRICARE’s ABA program is available across the U.S., but a move can mean a new referral or authorization, so start the conversation early.
