Boynton Beach is in south-central Palm Beach County, so families here often weigh a drive north against therapy closer to home. This guide compares those options and lists the public offices that serve Boynton Beach, from Early Steps to the school district and the county's special needs shelter. Phone numbers and addresses come from each agency's own website as of October 2026; confirm before you visit. For the county-wide overview, see our Palm Beach County autism resources guide.
Where does Hope Center serve Boynton Beach from?
Hope Center does not have an office in Boynton Beach. Families in Boynton Beach are served from our West Palm Beach center at 750 S Military Trail, Suite D-E, West Palm Beach, FL 33415, north of the city.
That leaves Boynton Beach families with two broad paths: bring your child to the West Palm Beach center, or have ABA come to you at home, at school (with the school's agreement) or at daycare. Whether we can staff your neighborhood and hours depends on the schedule you need, so call 561-337-8865 and ask.
Should we drive to the center or choose in-home ABA?
| Question | West Palm Beach center | In-home or school ABA in Boynton Beach |
|---|---|---|
| Travel | A drive north on I-95 or Military Trail; plan around traffic | No drive for your child; the RBT comes to you |
| Hours | Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. | Depends on staffing in your area; ask what times are open |
| Best for goals like | Group play, waiting, following routines in a new place | Bedtime, meals, toileting, sibling conflict, classroom routines |
| Parent role | Weekly parent training at the center or by arrangement | A parent or caregiver is home during sessions; training happens in the real setting |
| Things to check | Whether the drive fits school pickup and work | Space at home; for school, teacher and principal consent under Fla. Stat. 1003.572 |
Many children mix settings over time, for example starting at home and adding school sessions. Read more in center versus in-home ABA and school versus clinic ABA.

How do Boynton Beach schools handle ESE evaluations?
Boynton Beach public and charter schools are part of the School District of Palm Beach County (3300 Forest Hill Boulevard, West Palm Beach; (561) 434-8000). The district's Child Find page sends families to:
- your child's school ESE coordinator, if your child attends a district or charter school;
- the ESE coordinator at your zoned school, if you home educate;
- the ESE private school program, 561-434-8287 or ESEprivateschoolprogram@palmbeachschools.org, if your child is over 5 and in a private school in the county.
When you ask in writing for an initial evaluation, Rule 6A-6.0331 gives the district 30 days to seek your consent or explain in writing why it refuses. After you consent, the evaluation must be completed within 60 calendar days (school breaks such as winter and spring break do not count). A school eligibility decision is separate from a medical diagnosis.
If your child has private ABA, Fla. Stat. 1003.572 lets the BCBA or RBT observe and provide services at school when the teacher and principal agree on the time and place, and the district may not add extra requirements or charge fees for that collaboration. See private ABA in Palm Beach County schools.
Which Boynton Beach parks and library programs are sensory friendly?
Boynton Beach has more inclusive options on official pages than many nearby cities. These were listed in October 2026; check dates before you go.
- Barrier Free Park, 3111 S Congress Ave, Boynton Beach, FL 33472. The city describes it as a playground built to give children and adults of all abilities equal access to play, with climbing rocks, spray misters and sensory experiences.
- Canyon District Park in west Boynton Beach has one of Palm Beach County's barrier-free play areas, which the county describes as sensory-rich spaces where children with and without disabilities play side by side.
- Boynton Beach City Library, 100 E Ocean Avenue, (561) 742-6390, runs a Sensory Circle Time for ages 2 to 5 with activities that engage all the senses. It is general sensory play, not an autism-only program, so preview the room with your child if new places are hard.
- County library branches in Boynton Beach, the West Boynton Branch (9451 Jog Road, (561) 734-5556) and the Canyon Branch (8915 Senator Joe Abruzzo Ave, (561) 903-3700), host the county's Sensory Friendly Browsing Hour on set dates.
- Oceanfront Park beach wheelchairs. The city says beach wheelchairs are available at Oceanfront Park (6415 N Ocean Boulevard, Ocean Ridge); ask beach operations staff.
The Boynton Beach Police Department lists a Safe Encounter Registry for people with medically diagnosed conditions; call its non-emergency line, 561-732-8116, to ask whether it fits your child. The city's ADA coordinator can be reached at 561-742-6241 for accommodation questions at city programs.
What should we do before hurricane season?
Palm Beach County's Special Needs Shelter is staffed by physicians and nurses and has backup power, but it is not a medical facility and space is limited. The county's criteria are medical: dependence on powered life-support equipment, needing transfer help or a Hoyer lift, receiving help with activities of daily living and evacuating with a caregiver, or progressive Alzheimer's or dementia. Caregivers must come too. Autism alone is not listed, so ask whether your child qualifies before a storm. Apply online through the county, or mail the form to the Special Needs Coordinator, 20 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL 33415. The county lists 561-712-6362 for updating or confirming registry entries.
Whatever shelter you plan for, pack a sensory kit: headphones, a favorite snack, a tablet with chargers, and a visual schedule. See registering for a special needs shelter.
A decision checklist for Boynton Beach families
- Does your child need a diagnosis report for your insurance plan? Insurance-funded ABA usually needs an autism (or Down syndrome) diagnosis; self-pay does not.
- Which goals matter most right now: home routines, school behavior, or social play? That points to a setting.
- Can your weekly schedule absorb a drive to West Palm Beach, or is home or school more realistic?
- Have you asked your school about a 1003.572 collaboration?
- Is your child under 3 (Early Steps) or 3 to 5 (FDLRS Alpha)?
- Do you want parent training and meetings in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Bengali or Russian?
Starting ABA with Hope Center
We have no waitlist. After you call or request a free consultation and benefits check, we gather documents, verify your benefits, and schedule a 2 to 4 hour assessment at the center or your home. The plan can take up to two weeks to write, our clinical director reviews it, and it goes to your insurer. Services usually begin 3 to 5 business days after approval; first call to first session can be as little as three weeks.
We work with Blue Cross Blue Shield (Florida Blue), Aetna, Cigna (Evernorth), UMR, Personify Health and TRICARE East, and offer self-pay with a sliding scale. Costs depend on your plan. Call 561-337-8865 or visit our West Palm Beach ABA page.
